Letting Go of Culture's Beauty Standards
How do we live in the world but not of it when it comes to beauty and standards of beauty? Have the standards of what the world calls beautiful subtly affected our own definitions of beauty? Today Heather talks about the history of beauty standards, including the history of foot-binding in China.
Heather talks about what this beauty practice did to the girls and women of that nation over the course of hundreds of years and how some of the beauty practices we have in the U.S. may bind and cripple us in similar ways. Heather also shares the story of an amazing missionary named Gladys Alyward, who went to China to share the gospel and unbind women's feet.
If you feel caught up defining beauty the way the world does instead of the way the Word does, this episode will encourage and inspire you.
