A Prayer for Living to Please God
March 14, 2024 - 3 min
“But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts" (1 Thessalonians 2:4). When our eyes are heavenward, we can trust and rest in God's goodness despite our circumstances. We can know God's ways will prevail, not man's. We can be assured he is using our circumstances for our good, but most of all, for his glory—and that's what living to please God is about. ~Laura Lee Groves Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer to Wait Patiently for the Lord
March 13, 2024 - 4 min
“But I have trusted in your steadfast love; My heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me" (Psalm 13:5-6). When my day is falling apart, how do I respond? David began Psalm 40 with a simple statement, “I wait patiently for the Lord.” Far too often I've failed to wait for the Lord. I'm impatiently trying to figure out how to salvage my plan or getting frustrated with whomever it seems has interfered with the way I intended my day to proceed. ~Teri Lynne Underwood Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for the Wisdom of God
March 12, 2024 - 4 min
“Wisdom is good with an inheritance, an advantage to those who see the sun. For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it" (Ecclesiastes 7:11-12). The Hebrew word for wisdom is, “chokmah,” and is used 145 times in the Old Testament. It means skill in war, administration, shrewdness, prudence in religious affairs, wisdom both ethical and religious. It carries with it an implication that leads to action. Chokmah impacts our decisions and how we serve God. There is also a God-given natural flow of chokmah that brings with it profit, protection, and preservation. ~Stacey Thacker Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for the Strength to be Set Apart
March 11, 2024 - 4 min
“And the king spoke with them, and among all of them none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Michael, and Azariah. Therefore, they stood before the king" (Daniel 1:19). When we feel that we are different and loved beyond measure by God it is incredible, but it also calls us to do difficult things—to uphold integrity, to be truth tellers, to swim against the current. The world will be pulling at us to fall in line and follow suit. We are asked to stand up and stand alone—to not let the world change us but to change the world around us. It requires strength and vision beyond our own and a deep, unshakable faith. ~Michelle Krol Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for Handling Frustrations
March 8, 2024 - 4 min
“For you are my rock and my fortress; And for your name's sake you lead me and guide me" (Psalm 31:3). When you are going through difficulty do you cry out to God? He promises to lead us and guide us because he is our rock, our fortress and our strength. When we are experiencing difficulty and simultaneously fully relying on God, then the difficulty doesn't stay with us. It isn't ours to fix or to handle. We take it in and pour it out on our Savior, and he takes it all on himself. ~Becky Daye Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for a Pure Heart
March 7, 2024 - 4 min
“He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend" (Proverbs 22:11). Are there lies your children believe about themselves that you can help them combat with the truth of scripture? What about in your own life? We can keep our hearts pure by asking the Holy Spirit to remind us of the truths we've learned from God's Word. ~Sandra Peoples Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for a Tamed Tongue
March 6, 2024 - 6 min
“Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly" (Proverbs 14:29). Only you and I can control what comes out of our mouths, but once it is out in the world, who knows what will happen with it? This is a strong caution for me as I tend to let my words flow with less thought than they require. As a verbal processor, I tend to say lots of things without thinking, so I need the reminders God places throughout his word about the power of our words. ~Erin Mohring Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for Not Taking Offense
March 5, 2024 - 6 min
"If your boss is angry at you, don't quit. A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes" (Ecclesiastes 10:4). We can be offended, or we can yield and humbly submit to what doing things God's way. Refusing to give in to pride, even when our circumstances are decidedly difficult. It's never easy to take the lower place, but ultimately it's the best place. And Jesus, as he washed the disciples feet showed us the way to do it: do the opposite of what the enemy is tempting you to do. ~Kate Battistelli Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for Living in God's Truth
March 4, 2024 - 4 min
"Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him" (Proverbs 30:5). The enemy will always try to get us to believe things that aren't true. He's the father of lies. All he does is lie. And his mission is to destroy us. I've learned over the years to replace his whispers with shouts of truth, just as Jesus did when Satan tried to tempt him. Instead of being overcome with fear, we can remember that we don't have to be strong because Christ is our strength. He can do all things so we can trust in him. ~Brooke McGlothlin Tune in now to listen to today's entire devotion and start your day off praying God's Word for your family! A Prayer for Your Son to Have a Servant's Heart
February 27, 2024 - 6 min
When a police officer was shot and killed a few years ago on the campus of Virginia Tech, where I went to school, we baked cookies and made cards for each batch that read, "Thank you for protecting me," and we snuck around after dark delivering them to all of the police officers we could think of who lived near our home. Our boys thought they were superheroes sleuthing around the neighborhood, and the way I see it, they were superheroes, serving true heroes who give up so much to keep us safe. We don't have to serve others, but Jesus did. And he said, if we want to be first, we'll need to be last. ~ Brooke McGlothlin LINKS: Get this month's devotions and prayers in written form + a monthly prayer calendar based on this season's prayers!
