A Prayer for Taking up Your Cross
A prayer based on Luke 14:27.
We know what happened to Jesus on His cross. His entire life led up to that point—His death. Not only death, but because it was public and painful, the cross would also bring shame, sorrow, and suffering. Jesus knew this even before He came to earth. In Isaiah’s prophecy about Jesus in chapter 53, he wrote, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” The cross that we are to bear includes our own shame, sorrow, and suffering. It sounds overwhelming, doesn’t it? But this verse says we are to bear it.
