Do you wake up feeling rested? Many of us don’t.
Perhaps rest is more than just a good night of sleep?
In this passage, God issued an invitation to the Old Testament nation of Israel to return and rest in Him. The nation was wayward. They were choosing their own way and ignoring God. But God had more for them and so he extended this invitation to them.
While this passage was written for the ancient people of Israel, there is timeless truth in it for us too. How is God inviting you to return (or repent) and find rest in Him?
And, just like the Israelites chose to “flee on horses” … what might we be choosing instead of God?
As you meditate on this invitation from God, allow the Spirit to help you notice something from these words that applies to your own life.
We will meditate prayerfully and expectantly using the Lectio Divina Scripture meditation method. As you allow the Spirit to lead, you may be surprised by what he has for you.
Once you’ve listened to this Scripture Experience podcast, head over to the next episode and listen to the interview with Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith. We discuss her research on the seven different kinds of rest and she helps us discover what we can do to replenish our exhausted selves.

Isaiah 30:15-16, NIV
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.
You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’
Therefore you will flee!
You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’
Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
