Dr. Emily Smith is an assistant professor in the department of emergency medicine/surgery at Duke University and at the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) and previously spent four years at Baylor University in the department of public health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her Friendly Neighbor Epidemiologist Facebook page reached over 10 million people during 2020-2021.

Kathryn now lives in Michigan with her husband of 6 years, their two boys, and their adopted Yorkie-Poo.
