#24 - Ephesians 6 - The Armor of God
May 4, 2007 - 11 min
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
#23 - Psalm 51 - Create in Me A Clean Heart
April 25, 2007 - 10 min
Psalm 51For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. 1 Have mercy on me, O God,        according to your unfailing love;        according to your great compassion        blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash away all my iniquity        and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions,        and my sin is always before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned        and done what is evil in your sight,        so that you are proved right when you speak        and justified when you judge. 5 Surely I was sinful at birth,        sinful from the time my mother conceived me. 6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ;        you teach [b] me wisdom in the inmost place. 7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;        wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness;        let the bones you have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins        and blot out all my iniquity. 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,        and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me from your presence        or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation        and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,        and sinners will turn back to you. 14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God,        the God who saves me,        and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips,        and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;        you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are [c] a broken spirit;        a broken and contrite heart,        O God, you will not despise. 18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper;        build up the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices,        whole burnt offerings to delight you;        then bulls will be offered on your altar. #22 - John 20 - Doubting Thomas
April 17, 2007 - 10 min
Jesus Appears to Thomas 24Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"       But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it." 26A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 27Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." 28Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" 29Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." #21 - "Good" Friday - Crucifixion - Luke 23
April 6, 2007 - 12 min
The Crucifixion 26As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!' 30Then    " 'they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!"       and to the hills, "Cover us!" '[d] 31For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?" 32Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."[e] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 35The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One." 36The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself." 38There was a written notice above him, which read:|sc THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" 40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." 42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[f]" 43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."Jesus' Death 44It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last. 47The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man." 48When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away. 49But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
